Fish Meat Separator Machine Overview

Efficient Extraction and Collection of Boneless Fish Meat

The Fish Meat Separator Machine, also known as a Fish Deboning Machine or Fish Bone Separator, is specialized equipment designed to extract high-quality minced fish meat from various parts of fish, such as bones, skin, heads, and trimmings. It is widely used in the production of surimi, fish balls, fish patties, and other processed seafood products.

This fish meat separating machine is used to collect and extract fish meat from both freshwater and marine fish. The capacity ranges from 180kg/h to 2,000 kg/h, depending on the models. The big fish need to be cut into proper segments before fleshing, and the small fish can be fleshed directly. It is also applicable for collecting shrimp meat. The extracted fish meat is pure enough to be used to produce fish balls, fish noodles, fish gelatin, fish dumplings, etc.

Working Principle of Fish Meat Separator Machine

This fish meat separating machine mainly consists of a motor, feed-inlet, conveyor, and rolling meat picking barrel.

    1. Fish raw material is fed into the feeding hopper.
    2. A rotating screw pushes the material toward a rubber belt and perforated drum.
    3. The fish meat passes through the holes of the drum and is collected.
    4. Bones, skin, and other hard materials are discharged separately.
    5. The resulting fish mince is soft, boneless, and ready for further processing.

    Fish Meat Separator Machine Features

    • Efficient Separation Technology. Separates fish meat or shrimp meat from bones, skin, and fins. Uses a pressure-squeezing method with a rubber belt and perforated drum. The pressure between the rubber belt and the extracting tank can be adjusted according to the fish size. Ensures high meat yield while minimizing bone fragments.
    • Versatile Applications. Capable of processing: Whole fish (after gutting); Fish frames, skeletons, trimmings; Fish heads and tail sections; Shrimp; Soft shellfish and poultry trimming (optional); Commonly used for species like tilapia, carp, catfish, cod, sardine, mackerel, anchovy, and more.
    • High Efficiency & Output. Processes 180–2000 kg/h, depending on the model. The extracted fish flesh and fish bones are discharged separately. It can be integrated into large-scale fish processing lines. Continuously operates with minimal labor input.
    • Easy Operation and Maintenance. Made of high-quality SUS304 stainless steel, easy to clean and maintain. Meatball machines, freezer equipment, etc, can be arranged according to customers’ specific requirements.

    Fish Meat Separator Machine FAQs

The machine extracts boneless fish meat from raw materials such as fish frames, heads, skin, tails, and trimmings. It separates soft meat through a perforated drum, leaving bones, skin, and hard tissues behind.

It can handle both freshwater and marine fish, including:

    • Tilapia, catfish, carp, trout
    • Cod, pollock, mackerel, sardines
    • Anchovy, salmon, pangasius, and more
    • Also usable for soft-shell seafood and some poultry trimmings.

Yes. It can process whole fish without heads and guts, or pre-cut sections such as skeletons, frames, heads, and fillet trimmings.

    The resulting fish mince is:

    • Boneless or contains only very small soft bones
    • Clean and fine, ideal for fish balls, cakes, patties, surimi, and sausages
    • Texture depends on drum hole size and pressure settings

Yes. By changing the drum hole diameter (usually 2.5 mm to 6 mm), you can adjust:

    • Meat fineness
    • Yield
    • Presence of micro-bones

The meat recovery rate is typically:

    • 70%–85% for boneless fillets and frames
    • Lower (around 60%) for heads or bony parts
    • Yield depends on the fish type and operator settings.

Not recommended. This Fish Meat Separator Machine is designed for fresh or chilled fish. For frozen fish, it should be thawed to at least -1°C to 0°C for proper separation and to protect the machine parts.

Yes, but only to a certain extent. The machine can remove most bones and skin, but very fine pin bones may remain, depending on the fish species and drum hole size. For bone-sensitive products, a secondary filtration or bone detection system may be used.

Yes. It works well with fatty fish such as mackerel, salmon, and sardines. A larger hole drum may be preferred to prevent clogging and allow smooth meat flow.

Yes. It can be linked with:

    • Fish washing and descaling units
    • Cutting and trimming stations
    • Surimi production lines
    • Mixing and forming machines (e.g., for fish balls or patties)

We can provide full line layout suggestions.

    • 2.5–3.0 mm: For fine fish mince (ideal for fish balls, surimi)
    • 4.0–5.0 mm: For coarser output (good for patties, burgers)
    • 6.0 mm+: For large-scale separation or products where texture is less critical

We can help you select the right drum based on your application.

Yes. The fish mince produced is widely used in:

    • Pet food processing (wet or dry)
    • Fishmeal production
    • Animal feed mixtures
    • You can request coarser texture output for pet-grade products.

    The machine has:

    • Overload protection for the motor
    • Easy access panels to remove blockages
    • If a jam occurs, turn off the power, open the drum section, and clean out the obstruction manually.

No. The separated meat is raw and must be further processed (e.g., cooked, mixed, or formed) before consumption. However, it is safe for food processing if hygienically handled.
